• These digital photographs of a rather impressive Tricolor Locust (= Grasshopper) Paracinema tricolor were taken by a well vegetated and rather isolated pond on the coast of west Brittany (Bretagne), France. The photographer is somewhat mystified by the nomenclature of this predominantly green insect but it is without question one of the most impressive of the European grasshoppers. These flash photographs were taken with a Nikon D200 camera fittred with Micro Nikkor AF-SVR 105mm macro lens, although manual focussing is required for maximum magnification - as shown in the second photograph.
