                                 MARPISSID SPIDER Marpissa mucosa

• The above are all fast moving jumping spiders of the Family Salticidae. The handsome Philaeus chrysops is something of a rarity and this male was photographed in northern Spain. Females of this species lack the bright vermilion colouration on the abdomen. Menemerus semilimbatus was photographed in Tuscany and the remaining pictures were taken in the UK. Zebra Spiders are a familiar site on sunny walls and fences.
