MIXED DISPLAY SUMMER BEDDING

SURFINIA PETUNIAS

SURFINIA PETUNIAS AND LOBELIAS

HOUSE LEEKS
- The riot of colour seen in
these flower beds and window boxes is a testimony to the
effort and dedication of Bob Holdawanski the
award-winning Head Gardener and his team at St. George's.
Unfortunately the photographer does not share their depth
of knowledge (of cultivated plants) and he
hasn't got a clue about the identities of most of the
species illustrated. Fortunately Bob has been able to
provide captions for the pictures! For the record, the
photographs are digital stills taken using a mini-DV
camera on a fairly dull day.

- There have been several
additions to this list since it was compiled - and
several recent thefts! Please note
that these gardens are maintained on a limited budget for
the benefit of Hospital patients, their visitors and
staff and not as the
foundation of a commercial enterprise for third parties!

- The St. George's
Healthcare Environmental Operations
Group is a professionally advised committee
which has been assembled from a body of experienced Trust
staff working in a wide range of departments. This
pro-active forum is also keen to hear about any practical
ideas which might promote and bring about positive change
with respect to environmental issues within the Trust.
Steps have already been taken to reduce the hospital's
environmental 'footprint'. Greater control of energy use,
waste reduction, increased recycling and environmentally
friendly transport arrangements are some of the issues
already acted upon.
